Kraumur Awards

The Kraumur Awards is an annual music prize awarded for the best albums released in Iceland or by Icelandic artists.

The awards were established by the Kraumur Music Fund in 2008 and has been awarded annually since.

Ever year six Icelandic albums receive the Kraumur Awards, while 20 albums are nominated as part to the Kraumur Awards shortlist. The jury can in special cases add albums to the award category and shortlist, which led to seven albums receiving the awards in 2013 and 21 albums being nominated in 2016.

The award jury consists of leading Icelandic music journalists, radio show hosts and industry professionals. Head of the jury is the journalist and author Árni Matthíasson.
